Because not using and IICRC Certified Firm and Technician can void your carpet warranty. Carpets should be professionally cleaned by an IICRC Certified Firm and Technician every 18-24 months. Burdick’s Cleaning is a Certified Firm and John is a Certified Technician.
Hiring Seal of Approval Service Providers is the best way to ensure that your carpet is being cleaned with quality products. Not all carpet cleaning products clean equally well and some may even damage carpet fibers. Using Seal of Approval Service Providers also is the best way to make sure your residential or commercial carpet warranties are being met since many major carpet manufacturers are now tying their warranties to the use of Seal of Approval products.
Carpet cleaning professionals who use Seal of Approval solutions in conjunction with Seal of Approval equipment are eligible to be recognized as Seal of Approval Service Providers. Burdick’s is proud to be designated as a CRI Seal of Approval Service Provider
Some cleaning methods use foam chemicals or spotting agents which are applied to the carpet and are not rinsed out. The chemical residue that is left behind actually attracts dirt and dust and your carpets become dirty quickly. We use natural enzyme cleaners which are extracted with the dirt through hot water steam extraction. Our system does not leave any residue behind to attract dirt and dust.
Hot water extraction is the cleaning method preferred and recommended by carpet manufacturers to maintain their product. When done properly, the carpets will be slightly damp to the touch and on average be dry with in 4 to 8 hours. If carpets remain wet longer then that, the technician either over wet the carpets or is using equipment that doesn’t have enough vacuum power to extract the water. Burdick’s uses the most powerful type of equipment on the market, truck mounted.
While our method is very aggressive and produces restoration style results, it will not wear the carpets out and shorten the life span. Carpet wears as the dry, gritty soil rubs against the carpet fibers and breaks them down. Taking care of your carpets by vacuuming daily and having your carpets professionally cleaned every 18-24 months to remove the soil your vacuum cleaner can’t will uphold your carpet investment.
Scotchgard and Maxim will protect your carpet from most spills and prevent stains from becoming permanent. The protection will hold the spill, allowing you to remove it and spot clean. If the spill does set, the protection gives us a better chance of being able to remove it using our equipment. Not applying protection leaves your carpets and upholstery vulnerable to new spots and stains.
Some liquid stains may re-appear after the carpets have been cleaned. This is called wicking. It occurs when liquid stains seep in to the backing and/or padding of the carpet. While we can remove the stain from the carpet fibers, if what ever caused the stain is in the backing or padding, it will travel up the carpet fiber like a candle wick and settle on the top of the carpet. The residue sitting on the carpet fiber attracts dust and dirt and that area looks dirty again. The good news is through proper spot cleaning, you can eventually remove the problem.
The black line is caused by air filtration from your HVAC system. As air circulates through your home, it follows the path of least resistance. There is a space between the carpet and baseboards which is the easiest place for air to go when your HVAC system is running. The carpet acts like a filter in these areas, causing the black line around the perimeter of the room. Cleaning the carpet can lessen the appearance of the line, but will not remove the problem 100%.
The system and products we use to clean carpets and upholstery are environmentally safe and are not harmful to breathe. We are also able to clean with just water heated up to 250 degrees. The hot water does an excellent job of breaking down the oils and dirt and the high temperature will kill any bacteria and sanitize your carpets. The indoor air quality will be better after your carpets are cleaned.
